Strategic Foresight FAQs
-
What is strategic foresight?
Strategic foresight is the process of observing changes happening in society and anticipating how those changes will affect you. Strategic foresight uses logic to foresee second and third-degree outcomes for changes occurring today in all sectors of life.
-
Is strategic foresight biblical?
Strategic foresight is not the same as prophetic insight from Scripture. Nor is it the gift of prophecy from the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 12:10). Strategic foresight is a business tool for anticipating societal change. Preparing for change has become critical since change comes so rapidly in the 21st century. However, a Christian worldview helps the process of strategic foresight stay realistic. For example, no matter how advanced our technology becomes, you can count on one thing being constant: humans have a sinful nature. They will always find a way toward self-centeredness and always need a Savior, Jesus Christ.
-
How does strategic foresight benefit your church?
Strategic foresight helps your church anticipate and prepare for significant changes. These might include financial and giving changes, population shifts, cultural swings, governmental regulations, and weather-related problems. Imagine if your church had anticipated the changes after the invention of the iPhone or social media. What would you have done differently if you had a few years of advanced notice? The answer to this question is why strategic foresight is important for your church.
